Chezgeek is a labor of love for a handful of geeks living in/around Eugene, Oregon, USA. All of us are very much geeks, no matter what Annee thinks ("I'm not a geek, but I know unix.")
This is a "project" box for some of our pet projects. Most of what you'll see hosted here are not-for-profit sites for whatever crazy group one (or more) of us is involved in.
The name "chezgeek" comes from a game that we play at our weekly (well, sometimes) Geek Gaming Night. Since most of our little tribe has root access, we share the box like the roommates in the game. Sometimes, we even get something right when we change it.
The server itself is a system that we scraped up from parts that were laying around. We threw them into a rackmount case and hosted it at Willamette Net. Paul provided most of the parts, Mike handled the install, and Kbob and Seth fixed things when they evenutally did break. Chezgeek uses the unstable version of Debian Gnu/Linux and quite a bit of open-source software (apache, php, perl). How's Chezgeek doing right now? (for us only, contains confidential information)
